Halima Goodwin, DNP, PMHNP-BC, CPNP-PC is a Doctoral prepared, nationally certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Dr. Goodwin, Nurse Practitioner obtained her Bachelor’s and Master’s in Nursing from Hampton University, a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from the University of Maryland, and a Post Master’s Certificate from Rivier University in New Hampshire. She has served the nursing field with an emphasis in pediatric primary care and mental health care for 25 years.
She began her nursing career at a residential treatment center for children and adolescents in Virginia and following relocation, expanded her services to clinical research in the Child Health and Human Services Heritable Disorders Branch at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. From there she became a leader in the District of Columbia Government serving children and adolescents detained and in the care of Child Protective Services, simultaneous to managing a child and adolescent Acute Psychiatric Unit in Maryland.
During her tenure in Florida, Dr. Goodwin, Nurse Practitioner completed training as a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner, performed over 1000 sexual abuse examinations and provided expert testimony for cases in Miami Dade federal courts, Broward County courts, and Palm Beach County courts.
To further her experience in Psychiatry, Dr. Goodwin has provided expert mental health services in correctional settings, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, intensive outpatient programs, and outpatient practices.
She brings a wealth of knowledge in regards to primary care, mental health care, child and adolescent health and wellness, referral services, and prevention and treatment services for multiple medical and mental health diagnoses.
